Janelle describes her artwork ‘Mr Dan’ as follows:
Art makes me happy.
I made an owl named Dan after my boyfriend.
I used wire and coated it with brown handmade paper. I then dipped the frame into flax pulp. I made flax paper and when it was still, we I layered it on to the fire frame. Once it dried it stayed in place. I punched out tear shapes of different fibre papers and then cut them to look like feathers. I then layered them together to create his wings.
I liked working with different fibre paper using different techniques.
Janelle’s Owl is lit by a battery operated LED puck light.
